ARTIFACTS OF UNKNOWN PROVENIENCE There are several objects in the Logan Collections which were purchased from third parties but whose provenience is uncertain. HORSE-LEG PENDANT Horse hyoid bone, 8.14 cm. Middle to Late Magdalenian, ca. 12,000 BP (BC) Les Eyzies, Dordogne, France George Collie and Alonzo Pond purchased this artifact from M. Esclafer, who owned a mill on the Beune River near Les Eyzies. Although not certain, it is probable that this artifact came from a site in the cliffs above the mill, excavated by two of Esclafer's workmen. The pendant probably represents the leg of a horse, (it is made from horse bone), complete with ankle fur.
