Soccer
Through high school, I played on the varsity team. My main position was left wing front line, but occassionally, my coach, Randy Holladay, got it into his head to experiment, and switch me around. I played every position except keeper. Career stats aren't that great. My freshman season, I started six games. I didn't get any goals, but I managed to get a couple assists. Sophomore season wasn't much better. I ended the season with 1 goal (against King George) and several assists. My junior season, I tried. I played every game as hard as I could, and tried to make a district team. Didn't happen, but I ended the season with three goals (1 against Jayem, 1 against Caroline, and 1 against Fluvana) and several assists. My senior season was definetly my best. I started every game and I really seemed to come out. I played hard, and quit trying to make a district team. Rather, I played to have fun. What happens, happens. I ended the season with 11 goals (2 against Goochland, 3 against Fluvana, 1 against Spotsy, 1 against Jayem, 3 against Orange, 1 against Caroline) and several assists. I came close to getting a hat trick 3 different times, and thought for sure I had one in the first Orange game. In that game I had my best goal. Paul Jones was taking the ball up the side line, and got to the end line, he turned and kicked the ball in the direction of the goal. The ball was flying parallel to the opening of the net, and the keeper came diving out of the net. I jumped and the next thing I know is the ball is in the net, and the keeper has my legs wrapped. Apparently he tried for the ball, and I had beaten him. The next goal of that game, I scissored a loose ball into the net. Anyways, I ended the season thinking that I had done well. And apparently the coaches of the district thought so. I received the most number of votes out of all the 2nd team All-District players. I missed being 1st team barely. I also was fourth in the district in scoring, second on the team.
My freshman season. I was 21 all four years.
