Before…

knoteach

Chris watched intently as the other six members of his team strapped on their protective gear.  This was it…the culmination of the last seven months of work.  Finally they had enough evidence to put Harold Douglas away for the rest of the man’s life.  They had been busting their butts for the last several months to dig up every shred of evidence they could scrounge together, with Ezra feeding them from the inside.

Douglas had been climbing the gunrunning power structure for the last five years, and had remained outside the grasp of all attempts to take him down.  At least two undercover agents had died trying to infiltrate his organization, making him one of the most hated members of the underworld.

When Judge Travis had handed the file to Chris, Chris had wanted to swear.  It seemed that Douglas was working on something big, though no one seemed to know exactly what it was.  With Ezra on the inside they had learned he was planning to make a move to destroy his competition in the Denver area, eventually with plans to expand all the way to the Pacific coast, a prospect too dreadful to even contemplate.  Ezra had gone under as a supplier of untraceable weapons, and managed to work his way into the organization far enough to offer his services to Anderson in obtaining the weapons that would be necessary for the magnitude of operation he had in mind.

But with any luck, Douglas’ plans were all going down the tube in a little less than an hour.

“Everyone ready?” Chris asked gruffly as he jerked his ATF jacket into place over his Kevlar vest and checked the magazine in his berretta.

A round of yes, yeahs, and other assorted affirmatives met the inquiry.

“Then let’s do it,” Chris said as he slapped the magazine back in place.  Receiving affirmative nods from his men, he paired them off, Josiah with Nathan, Buck with JD, and Vin and Ezra.  He himself joined Vin and Ezra as they carefully approached the warehouse where the meet had been set up.  Douglas seemed to have arrived early, two vehicles that Ezra had noted on several occasions stood parked behind the building.  They had no time for finesse, they were moving in now!

Chris waited until Vin and Ezra flanked the door, then kicked it in and followed them into the building, gun out and ready for trouble.
