- Djovkhar Dudaev

Dzhokhar Dudaev was the First President of the Chechen Republic.
Dzhokhar Dudaev received lethal wounds as a result of a Russian missile attack near the village of Gekhi-Chu in early hours of 22 April of 1996.
Russians commited his murdered in the most treacherous way: Dzhokhar Dudaev was lured to the satellite phone, kept on the line under the pretext of talks about a ceasefire and then killed by the mentioned missile attack.
Also identified as: Zhokhar (Dzhokhar) Dudayev, Johar (Jokhar) Doudayev, Djohar Doudaev or Djovkhar Dudaev

- Aslan Maskhadov
Aslan Maskhadov  was born in Kazakhstan in 1951.
He comes from Chechen Alaro clan (taip).
He graduated from the Tbilisi Higher Artillery College in 1972, and then went on to the Kalinin Military Academy in
 Leningrad, where he completed his studies in 1981.
His military career began as a platoon commander in the Far East. After graduating from the military academy he served in Hungary as a battery commander and, subsequently, as a regiment commander.
From 1992 to 1996, Maskhadov served in the Chechen Armed Forces. In December 1993 he was promoted to chief of staff.He served as prime minister in the Chechen coalition government from October 1996 until January 1997.
 Maskhadov also became one of the chief negotiators in talks with federal officials. He was actively involved in talks held in Grozny in the summer of 1995, signing an agreement on military issues for the Chechen side. He also took part in the negotiations with federal representatives in Nazran in June 1996 and in Novye Atagi from June 28 to July  4, 1996.
On Aug. 31, 1996, following talks with former Russian Security Council Secretary Aleksander Lebed, he signedthe Khasavyurt agreements, effectively ending the conflict with Russian troops.
 This was followed by an agreement on the principles governing relations between the Russian Federation and theChechen Republic, signed by Maskhadov outside Moscow on Nov. 23, 1996, with Russian Prime Minister VictorChernomyrdin.
 Maskhadov is married and has a daughter and a son.

 1987 got enrolled to Moscow Institute of Land-Tenure Regulations Engineers.
 August, 1991 took action in the defence of the White House in Moscow, Russia.
 1991 returned to Chechnya from Russia and joined the trrops of the Confederation of the People of the Cacasus
 (KHK).
 1992 became a commander of the troops of the Confederation of the People of the Cacasus (KHK).
 August of 1992 participated in war actions in Abkhaziya.
 Summer of 1994 he particpated in military activities during civil war on Djovkhar Dudaev's side.
April of 1996 he was elected as Commander of the Armed Forces of the Chechen Republic.
December of 1996 left the post of the Commander in order to be a candidate for the President of the Chechen Republic in forthcoming elections.
 27th of January, 1997 got second place, getting 23,5% of the voters loosing the Presidential seat to Aslan Maskhadov.
