The future 1st line centre of the Atlanta Thrashers has now arrived, when the Atlanta Thrashers traded for Patrick Marleau. This young speedy centre had 5 years of professional hockey under his belt in the CTCHL and NHL at just 23 years of age. Started playing pro at just the age of 18. Patrick has tremendous skill. He has phenomenal speed with a hard and accurate shot, while also being able to throw a body check. Marleau is also solid in his own end, something some young players have trouble doing. Was a 2nd overall selection by the San Jose Sharks after Joe Thornton. He came over to Atlanta in a deal that sent Vaclav Prospal, Brian Pothier and prospects Ben Eaves and Rob Zepp to Buffalo. A 5th round pick came back in the deal along with Marleau. This deal shows how important and valuable Patrick is to Atlanta and teams around the league.
