Roman Hamrlik was drafted in 1992 by Tampa Bay with high hopes. He was drafted first overall in the draft adn immediately made an impact with Tampa as an offensive defenseman. He worked on his defensive game and now has become one of the better two-way defenseman in the CTCHL. The Czech star defenseman is probably a top 15 defenseman in the CTCHL. He came over to Atlanta at the CTCHL 2003 Entry Draft from the powerhouse Colorado Avalanche. The Thrashers traded Filip Kuba and the 13th overall pick in the draft for Roman and the 30th overall pick in the draft. With this trade, Roman Hamrlik will become Atlanta's numer 1 defenseman and will give Atlanta a very solid defense corps with Andrei Markov, Rostislav Klesla, Steve Staios, Aki Berg and future stars Joni Pitkanen and Carlo Colaiacovo.
