Wade Belak was claimed off waivers from Edmonton. This is his second trip to Atlanta as he was traded to Atlanta before. He is another fighter on the Atlanta Thrashers roster that can fight. Very big at 6 feet and 5 inches, and weighing in at 221 lbs. He loves to hit and fight and is a physical stay at home defenseman for the Thrashers that can play the wing if needed. Once Belak was claimed off waivers, it left the door open to trade Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre to make Belak the 7th defenseman on the team for this season. Chances are that he will get to play for the Atlanta Thrashers if there are injuries but he has to watch his back as there is a lot of top notch defensive prospects that are crawling up. When a team tries to intimidate Atlanta, Belak will be there.
