Back To Atlanta Thrashers CTCHL Home
Congratulations to the Atlanta Thrashers general manager Brian Blake for being the co-winner of the gm of the year for the 1st year of CTCHL, along with Boston Bruins general manager Mathias Vaigur. Good luck Mathias and Brian.
There is no one representing the Atlanta Thrashers in the All-Star game, but Simon Gagne will turn some heads as he will represent his team in the Skills Competition in Denver. He is a great and fast skater with great hands and has a chance of winning some events. He has asked to be in the fastest skater, breakaway relay, and puck control relay competitions.

Coach-

Simon Gagne named to his first all star game but surprisingly as a starter. He will be the starting left wing for the Eastern Conference. The Eastern Conference lost the game 7-5. In the Skills Competition Gagne participated in 3 events, the fastest skater, break away relay and the rapid fire event.
Arturs Irbe was named as the back up for the Eastern Conference, but nonetheless he played in the game and was the top goalie for the Eastern Conference. He out played Brent Johnson but Johnson let in so many goals already that the East lost anyways by a score of 7-5. This is the first time Atlanta had 2 players representing the team.
Dany Heatley represented Atlanta in the young stars game, and he certainly made an impact and made his presence felt. He scored 4 points, getting a goal and 3 helpers to help the East beat the West by a final score of 12-9. Not a lot of rough stuff or hitting as there was no penalties in the game. Heatley is not used to playing this type of game.
Like Dany Heatley, Rusty also participated in the first ever young stars game. Klesla was a big offensive presence as he scored 1 goal and added 2 assists. He was one of the highest scoring defenseman. Only Kalinin had more points in the big Eastern Conference win. Congratulations to Rusty Klesla.

Community award-
Tie Domi - Has helped out the Atlanta Thrasher community a lot.
Farm player of the year-
Kris Beech - Lead the farm team in points and came 3rd on the team in PIM.
Top Prospect-
Joni Pitkanen -
Picked 3rd overall last year, has potential to be an elite defenseman in the CTCHL.
Coach-
Brian Sutter -
Helped the Thrashers be first in the Eastern Conference at one point with a great start.
Dany Heatley was the rookie of the year without a shadow of a doubt. He lead all rookies in goals (22), assists (33), points (55) and shots on goal (149). He played most of the year on the second line, but has certainly proved that he is a franchise player for the Atlanta organization.
Simon Gagne named to his second straight all star game and also second career all-star game. He recorded an assist in the game in Minnesota but was a plus 2 as well showing off his defensive game. He had lots of fun at the skills competition where he competed in 4 of the 6 events including fastest skater and hardest shot.
Petr Sykora is making his second career trip to the All-Star game here in the CTCHL. His first one was in 2001 in Colorado when he was a memeber of the New Jersey Devils. He recorded a goal and an assist in the game and was a plus 1 on the night. His goal was a beauty as he finished off a 2 on 0 with Martin St. Louis.
