Around the NHL

Hull goes to Redwings

The Detroit Red Wings continued their summer spending spree this week when they added free agent right winger Brett Hull, Hull was cut loose be the Stars this summer when they didn't exercise the final year of his contract, which would've paid him $7 million. Hulls new deal will see him earn $9 mill over the next 2 years. With an aging team the Wings have clearly decided that if they want to win another Stanley cup the time is now, their efforts this off-season have seen the addition of all-stars Hasek, Robitaille and now Hull.

Lindros trade official

After agreeing a 4-year contract with the Rangers and passing further medical tests Eric Lindros if officially a New York Ranger. Jan Hlavac, Kim Johnsson, Pavel Brendl and a midround draft pick are on their way to the Philadelphia Flyers for the often injured but always effective Lindros. The Rangers have some insurance in the deal; if lindros fails to play a certain number of games this season the Flyers will send a 1st round pick back to NY.

Leafs re-sign Alyn McCauley

The Leafs did a little off season busines as they re-signed C Alyn McCauley to a 1yr deal. McCauley spent last season flipping back between St.John's and the Maple Leafs. It is expected that Mats Sundin has the first centre position, Reichel second and Green the third and then the 4th is up for grabs between Alyn and Nik Antropov. If McCauley wins that position it doesn't exactly mean that Antropov wont play it just means he wont play centre and might be put on a wing. McCauley scored 1 goal in the 14 games he played for the Leafs while in St.John's he had 44 points in 47 games. Stay tuned for the latest.
