Weaknesses: Needs to bulk up in order to be a better defender and finish more plays around the basket. Ball handling skills will need some improving in order to make the transition from a college forward to an NBA guard. Needs to cut down of the turnovers and improve his ability to create shots for his teammates. His athleticism isn’t great and he isn’t a standout leaper. Must become more of a consistent shooter in order to make it in the NBA. Outlook: Shumpert is a talented college player who will really need to step up his game in order to make it in the NBA. It’s a general consensus that he will be a second round pick next year but if he doesn’t show significant improvement he could go undrafted if a lot of underclassmen declare. He isn’t a likely first round pick unless huge unexpected improvement occurs due to his lack of strength and only average athleticism. |
