So, let me tell you what happened. I was backed into a parking space at Costco Gas. My sister was parked on my right. We had just both gotten some gas, and were on our way to church.
There was a large car on my left, so I looked to my right, past her car, first. By the time I could see past the car that was to my left, it was already too late. This little Nissan Sentra was about 2 feet from my car. I jerked the wheel to the right to try to avoid them, but it was no use. They weren't even paying attention.
Luckily, because I jerked the wheel, most of their impact hit my tire. The part of their car that missed the tire caused this damage. By the way, I was somehow found to be mostly at fault (70%/30%). I understand that I have to yield to them, but you can't just drive around in parking lots not watching for that. I wouldn't have been able to see them at all when they hit me if it weren't for the fact that I was backed in. The damage would have been so much worse.
As sad as it is for me to say, it probably was a good thing it happened. Our insurances each paid for the damages, less the deductibles. But, since noone was found to be completely at fault, our insurance companies paid each others deductibles. That means no money out of pocket. In fact, the quote I got for the damage was for $1363 and it only ended up costing me $500 to fix. That paid for my X-box and In-dash Monitor.
