Baseball Footwear

Cleats

There are two types of cleats used for playing baseball: metal cleats and molded cleats. (necessary)

Metal Cleats
Juniors & Seniors ONLY

Metal cleats feature molded soles with several small metal spikes attached to the bottom of the shoe (so be careful where you step or slide). They are designed to provide maximum traction on baseball fields. They can be dangerous, and for safety reasons, they are banned from the feet of Little Leaguers across the world.

Molded Cleats
Suggested for all Little Leaguers

Molded cleats feature molded soles with several small plastic cleats attached to the bottom of the shoe designed to provide traction on baseball fields. They are generally safer and less likely to cause injury if a foot should come into contact with another player.

What to Look For:

Your cleats should fit much like sneakers; make sure they are comfortable and breathable and offer full support for your feet.

If you rotate between plastic and metal spikes, be sure to get cleats that offer this interchangeable option. This is especially pertinent if your league does not permit the use of metal spikes.

Get replacement cleats if your cleats wear down; replace the shoes if they begin to rip.

Turf Shoes
Juniors & Seniors may want these for All Star League Play

These shoes are designed specifically to provide traction on turf fields, featuring several small rubber cleats.
Turf shoes won't be of much use on grass baseball fields, so make sure there's turf on the field before you play ball in these kicks.
