Pitchers: Warm up those arms

mysportsguru.com

Spend 12-15 minutes warming up before your next start.

The necessary warm up time for pitchers should generally be 12 to 15 minutes. The purpose of warming up is not just to get the arm loose and ready to throw hard, but should also be used for getting the arm ready throw all types of pitches and throw with control.

A pitcher should start warming up slowly, then throw hard in the last few minutes when the arm is loose enough. Those last few minutes should simulate game conditions. The pitcher should be throwing just about as hard as he or she will be throwing in the game.

It's also important for pitchers to remember to stretch and get other body parts loosened up in addition to the arm. The legs are just as important as the arm when it comes to pitching.
