Forward
Jamie was born in Blyth on the 29th of September 1979. He joined Newcastle United as a schoolboy but was released without getting a pro contract. He was determined to make a career in football and spent time at Blyth, Bridlington, FC Aberdeen (Scarborough Sunday League), Edgehill Mere (North Riding League), Scarborough and Whitby Town. A good FA Cup by Whitby Town last season brought Jamie to the notice of several league clubs. He signed for Chesterfield on the 12th of December 2001.
Last season he proved more than capable of stepping up a level, scoring 7 goals in 24 appearances for the Spireites. This season goals have been more elusive for Chesterfield, he has scored once in the 1-0 win over Barnsley.
Jamie signed for Carlisle on a season long loan on the 31st of December 2002. He lost no time in getting on the score sheet, scoring after only 9 minutes in his debut game away at Hartlepool on the 1st of January, a game that Pool were eventually to win 2-1. Jamie was only to feature in a further three games before a hernia became too troublesome and he had to have surgery. Whilst recovering with the squad Jamie broke a curfew imposed by Roddy Collins after the home defeat against Hull on the 1st of March. Jamie took no further part in United's season.
