John Hore was born in Liverpool on the 18th of August 1982. He signed as a trainee for Carlisle on the 1st of August 1999. John only played one league game for Carlisle in the 99/2000 season. This was a baptism of fire at Brighton, in the last game of the season on the 6th of May 2000. Our own result and those of Chester and Shrewsbury would decide who dropped to the conference and Brighton were taking no prisoners, what a debut for a 17 year old! He played the first 57 minutes, sticking to his task well before being replaced by Tracey.

In the 200/01 season John only got two games in the first team, Ian Atkins preferring to rely on experience in the desperate situation we found ourselves in. he played a full game in the LDV match away at Kidderminster, on the 12th of December, acquitting himself well. On the 16th of December he started in the league match against Macclesfield away. It was a tense game and when Macclesfield scored in the 56th minute Hore was immediately replaced by Hemmings to give extra width on the left, the game ended in a 1-0 defeat.

John didn't get his chance to break through into the first team, despite looking impressive in pre season, particularly against Gretna where he scored twice and showed he was able to slot into a team that played a passing game favoured by Collins he only made three substitute appearances. The first of these was against Cheltenham, away on the 15th of September when United dropped back to rock bottom, creating little and giving the home team far too much time. John was brought on in the 79th minute to try and introduce an attacking outlet and chances were created with John blazing a ball over the bar shortly after coming on but the match ended with a 0-2 defeat. His second appearance came at home to Lincoln on the 22nd of September, this time coming on for a tiring Chay Hews in the 60th minute. Again John created chances and had shots on goal but it wasn't to be and Carlisle had to settle for the 2-2 draw. His final appearance came in the next game, away at Southend, a 3-2 defeat, this time replacing Birch in the 69th minute. Before Christmas John went to Middlesbrough to gain experience but unfortunately suffered a nasty leg injury that was to keep him out of training for a while. After Christmas he was a regular in the reserve team, scoring a particularly impressive goal against Rochdale reserves.
