Sean was born in Derry on the 15th of May 1979. He joined Liverpool as a trainee on the 1st of August 1995 but wasn't retained and left on the 31st of May 1998. On the 1st of August that year he was picked up by Ipswich Town where he made one substitute appearance. Ipswich beat Crewe 2-1 at Portman Road on the 27th of November 1999 and Friars came on for Stockwell in the 71st minute. Sean then got a loan to Portadown In Northern Ireland from the 18th of March to the 18th of May 2000 and was released by Ipswich on the 1st of July 2001. He has been playing football in Ireland through the last year.
Sean came on for Winstanley in the home game against Mansfield on the 10th of November, this turned out to be his only appearance for Carlisle. He is currently playing for St Mirren.
