IAN WINTER

At what stage did you realise we would be bottom of the league going into the last game of the season?   Probably the game against Scarborough with them being close rivals & losing to them I thought that's it.

How did you cope getting through that last week?  Mostly anger at FGB for letting the situation get to that stage & going as far as saying the scabs deserve to stop up because they went & bought players.

Did you hesitate about going to the game?  NO!!

How did you feel as you walked into the ground? Angry, wanting to hit FGB, convinced we would be down & out at 5.45.

When did you here that Peterborough had scored?  I had a radio & passed info on to everyone around. Everyone cheering.

When the Dobie goal was disallowed, did you feel it wouldn`t be our day? Yes, felt it was going to be one of those days again, proof that we hadn't done enough.

At half time were you optimistic or depressed?  Depressed, very despondent.

When Plymouth scored what were your feelings?  That's it game over - no chance now were finished.

When Brightwell scored how did you feel?  Somewhere in my head, I got the idea, Hang on we might just do it. All thought became positive from being a sad miso all week to changing my mind in a couple of seconds.

At the end of normal time Colin Carter came on the tannoy announcing the Scarborough final score and tried to lift the crowd, what were your feelings then?  That's it they have stopped up B******S.  It was summed up by chant that started round the ground,  " FGB You're just a FGB".

What were you thinking as we won the corner and Pearson waved Jimmy forward?
I didn't even knew he was up everyone round me was going mental, Come On, come on. The women sat beside me were crying, really crying. Everything we hoped & prayed for rested in these last seconds.

What was your thoughts when Glass scored?  It didn't really register for a split second then " YYYYEEEEEEESSSSS" , followed by lifting the women who hadn't seen the goal jumping round then hang on "get everyone off the pitch in case the ref abandons the game".  Its amazing how much went through my mind in such a short space of time.

Did you go on the pitch after the game?  Yes, but went to talk to the Plymouth fans first, they said they were glad we stopped up instead of the Scabs.

How did you feel after it was all over that day?
I got home watched all the news programmes on ITV, BBC & Sky. I was celebrating on the front of my house everybody seemed to have been there or listening, great atmosphere the worst period was trying to get to sleep -no chance. I emailed by penpal in Argentina & he replied he'd seen the goal on Tv down there.

Looking back on that day now, how important do you feel that game was?
It was one of those days, when we made football history, it was as people say the stuff dreams are made of. An on loan goalie scores the winning goal in extra time to keep us in the league. It was only spoiled by seeing FGB bragging to everyone & lying again. "We must not allow this to happen again."  Is it any wonder the man is so reviled in the hearts of blues fans.
