European versus N.A. Fishing

Pack bait equates to 'Groundbait'' in Europe, the main difference is that the euro method involved feeders, while the N.A method involves bait moulded around the hookbait. I dont think the N.A method would be so effective in the U.K & many parts of Europe because the Biomas of fish is differently disposed, there are many more cyprinid fish than just carp & they would rip the pack bait & pop from the hook in minutes even before a carp had time to find it!

This was one of the main reasons for the development of the boilie, which is small fish proof. Where I see the N.A methods in front of U.K is undoubtedly with lure & livebait fishing (lure especially). No-one in the U.K. (I would bet) would venture to use a fly or jig to catch a carp, yet these methods can be deadly in the right conditions.

However N.A waters are a lot more diverse than Brit ones, & hence there is (dare I say it) some amount of stagnation as far as the development of alternative methods of catching carp. I love the diversity of N.A & would have it no other way, however I am terrified to think about going down to my local haunt & finding a bank load of bivvies firmly encamped on the shoreline., No Thank you !

I suppose it is very hard for some N.A fisherman to relate to what the Brits are saying about how hard some of these fish are to catch. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to come along with a different idea, but right there that is the problem, with constant fishing pressure 12 months of the year & relatively low fish density, those carp know every bump & hole in the lake bed. They know exactly how a boilie is supposed to behave (having eaten thousands of them), the fish that do not get caught are those that dont eat boilies.

In these situations, it is often the bait of most quantity which gets the most attention (as long as the bait is introduced correctly), there are plenty of good baits around, since most of them are shop bought anyways, it is likely that many of the ingrediants are the same, just packaged differently. Yep Blightly sure can be a tough place to fish, & with that some of the anglers are capable of getting fish out of an empty bucket ! good luck to them. Rambled too long.
