Freight return to action this week

After a two-week respite, Vandalia's men's fastpitch softball team will kick its season into full gear beginning this week.

Guaranteed Air Freight returns to action at Radom on Wednesday, playing Lee's Sports at 7:30 p.m.

This weekend, the Freight will compete with the state's best in the Illinois Area ISC Tournament in Decatur.

The five-team field will include the Freight, Bloomington Stix, Springfield Brandts, Cerro Gordo and Nokomis.

Radom dropped out of the tournament, causing the format to switch to round robin.

The Freight will play Bloomington at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Cerro Gordo at 3 p.m. and Nokomis at 7 p.m.

The tournament concludes on Sunday. The Freight will open play on Sunday at 9 a.m. against Springfield.

The Freight will then take the week off before competing in the Kelso Classic next weekend.
