Where did all the water balloon launchers go?
The high caliber water balloon launcher artillery can be used effectively not only in a one-hit-kills game, but in ANY soaker game...trust me. At scout camp, 1995, I had my first water war experience. Basically, the whole entire camp was in war...it was the kids VS the adults, about 500 people total. We had to find the leader of the other team and take him out. That was the mission. To get to the enemy held territory, we had to cross it. The bridge. This was not your average bridge. It was defended by a dude with a custom made metal power soaker with a backpack, and had been sighted in by the artillery. The artillery was a balloon launcher from about 400-500 ft. away in a lowland....we could see them. We could see the shells about to rain down upon us. It was totally frightening. Let me tell you, you did not stay on that bridge for long unless you wanted to to be toast. Seriously, like I got hit with a water balloon on my leg from some kid about 10 ft. away...I remember that stung...imaging a water balloon flying through the air hundreds of feet... For anybody that has not gone directly against artillery fire or been caught in it, you cannot quite appreciate what a devastating weapon the launcher can be. If you put people who don't know what they are doing with it, it is totally useless, but it you get a skilled, smart, strong, fast artillery team working together, you pretty much have the most destructive weapon introduced into water warfare...there is no way water guns could compete on that same caliber. I could really see those shells knocking kids over. Hardcore man, those things don't mess around. Nobody would just sit around under the sights of the launchers. In a water war, you either get out of there or you die. Plus, if you get a good spotter up in a tree or something with communications, artillery can be very accurate. Artillery can be used as part of an offensive strike, or can be used to knock out isolate groups of men. Say you've got men on a hill ready to strike....your waiting for the right moment, but really your waiting for more men to mass because the enemy has a strong point up the hill. Then, the artillery comes. The enemy starts shelling you from behind the enemies lines. You have no choice but to pull back...you will probably lost a few men to artillery, but artillery AND enemy soldiers....it is a very good defensive.
