Where did all the water balloon launchers go?
So just what happened to the
launchers? I hardly ever see them, and they are probably pretty rare elsewhere.
I think there are several reasons why we don't see more. 1) Where can you
get them? Soakers are easy to find in toy stores, you have to really search
out launchers. 2) Its not as easy as grabbing a blaster and running to the
front line. It takes skill, and is a lot harder than you may think. There
is filling up of balloons, storing them, getting three people to use the launch+a
spotter. You have to function 100% as a team or nothing happens, and due to
it's high level of organization most don't want to mess with it. 3) lack of
people. Truth is, most small scale skirmishes don't have the numbers of men
to support an artillery position. I think using a launcher is somewhat of
a lost art, but those who truly know it's potential realize how good it is
to have one. I have only been up against a well manned water balloon artillery
piece once, but once is enough to realize I never want to again. Give me enemy
soldiers by the dozens, but not artillery. Still, you get a rush from knowing
that you're going up against something that could easily obliterate you and
your men.
