Power Mods(Hyper Mod System)
One of the greatest feelings is to hold a watergun, pump it up, give a squeeze of the trigger, and feel it jump in your hands. Kick. It is power. There are many attributes to weigh as far as water guns go, but face it, we all know you run to the most powerful watergun your know of to buy it. There are many things we thing about, like color, size, etc. but when it comes down to it…we love to see our enemies outgunned, and dead. In 1996, Larami released one of two known versions of the notorious CPS-2000, still the most powerful production made water gun ever made. In keeping with its legendary power, this gun was easily capably of 50-60 ft distances throwing a massive 20 X stream of water upon utterley helpless prey, and I do say prey. This gun is the most prized and collectable of water guns, easily fetching upwards of $80 or more. I once saw a guy offer $150 for one. I was personally offered $50 for mine, which is the second version. People want power, and they are willing to pay for it .
Unfortunately, Larami Ltd. decided enough was enough and soon discontinued the CPS-2000 in favor of its newer replacement, the CPS-2500. Now, lets hold on for just a sec. The CPS-2500 is one of the more well known water guns being a part of the Legendary '98's. Even to me, this gun is powerful, capable of achieving distances of mid to upper 40s(in feet). Most people who have used the CPS-2000 view the 2500 as a weak gun. Ouch! People hear this stuff and just want the CPS-2000 more and more. Unfortunately, the CPs-2000 was discontinued and will most likely never be made again, or at least a gun to equal it's power. There are too many concerns over safety for a weapon of this caliber to hit the toy market. I say that because, well, the average water gun is viewed by 99.99999992469999% of people to be a toy. It is found in the toy sections of stores, and sold in toy stores. It was meant by the manufacturers to be a toy. What this means is that little kids have the same access to this 'toy'. Imagine a CPS-2000 in the hands of a 6 year old. Not a good idea, and I can understand why Larami decided it was best to discontinue the CPS-2000. -begin regular article-
So, if you are hoping for Larami to design and gun as powerful as the CPS-2000, stop, because I don't think its going to happen. After all, Larami designed the MXL, and designed it for older kids, due to just the extreme weight factor and that no 6 or 8 year olds were meant to carry it…and what, they give it 30 ft. range, HALF that of the CPS-2000? It was supposed to be our gun…and it usually only serves as a $50 conversation piece(I got mine for $25, so I can gripe about that, hehe) This only leaves us wanting more power, more power, more power… Well, since the CPS-2000 is hard to come by, and when it is, it is usually above the price of 2 MXs, many have resorted to power mods, or as I call them, hyper mods(high-performance modifications) -next page-
