Here's a good example of a typical 'grabber' lead sinker. You can see how it got its nickname. These sinkers range in weight from 8 to 14 ounces and come in a variety of shapes. Because maximum casting distances will produce more strikes at certain spots, aerodynamics and wind-cutting properties come into play when casting directly into the wind. When fishing at a spot with a headwind, heavier, more streamlined weights are preferred.
