LA Trade Tech registered a mild upset with a 74-60 win over Antelope Valley. PF Mark Treadwell led the way for the Beavers with 25 pts on 10 of 14 plus 15 rebs and 6 asts (all game-highs). G Diamond Johnson added 12 pts and 4 steals off the bench. Trade Tech won despite the absence of C Jason Chivers, who suffered a knee injury in their first-round win over COC.
The Marauders had a miserable night shooting (31%) and were generally off their game. SF Sidney Melvin made 2 threes midway through the 2nd half to bring AVC within 9 at 50-41 but that was one of the few signs of life they mustered. Reserve F Chris Ford had a nice game in limited minutes with 9 pts on 3 of 3 shooting for AVC. But with PF Brandun Mates limited to 8 pts and 2 rebs, and Melvin going just 3 of 11, Antelope Valley had little chance.
