SF Harry Lum scored a game-high 23 pts to lead the way, and reserve G Eric Butler had a remarkable 2nd half going 6 of 6 for 14 pts, plus 4 steals and 3 asts. Pasadena scored the next 5 pts to go ahead 45-40 before the Butler-led run gave Compton a 56-47 lead. Pasadena was unable to cut the deficit below 5 the rest of the way.

Compton got strong performances from several players in addition to Lum and Butler. F Jerome Stamper chipped in 11 pts and 6 rebs off the bench, and SG Alphonso Riley scored 7 pts and grabbed a team-best 9 rebs and 3 steals. PG Gary Lenoir had a rough night shooting, going 1 of 9, but had 6 asts and 4 steals for the Tartars. Jones led the Lancers with 16 pts and 9 rebs, while Smyth had a team-high 5 asts.
