Fresno got excellent performances from all 5 starters to win impressively at Modesto, 86-73. SF Willie Johnson led all scorers with 24 pts, and he also had 6 rebs and 4 steals. PF Bilal Russell finished with 18 pts, a game-high 9 rebs and 6 asts. SG DeShawn Anderson had 20 pts on 7 of 12 shooting and had 3 steals. C Robert Ross tallied 8 pts along with 5 rebs and 5 blocked shots. And PG Maurice Moore was outstanding in leading the effort, finishing with a game-high 8 asts to go with his 9 pts.
Fresno led 40-32 at halftime, and extended their lead to 16 midway through the 2nd half at 58-42. Modesto rallied to cut the deficit to 4 at 67-63 with just under 5 mins left, but the Rams pulled away late largely behind the efforts of Johnson and Anderson.
C Israel Torres led the way for the Pirates with 18 pts and 6 rebs. Wings Mike Groves (13 pts, 2 threes) and Adam Jacobs (11 pts, 3 threes) helped fuel the rally with their outside shooting, and Modesto got strong games from bench players Brian Roycroft (8 pts, 3 steals), Eric Leong (8 pts) and Darin Zafferano (7 pts).
