PF Matt White turned in a tremendous performance with 28 pts, 23 rebs and 7 asts to lead the Cougars to a big win over an undermanned Pasadena squad at Pasadena. White keyed a 17-0 run midway through the 1st half that took the score from 17-16 to 34-16, and Southwest was never challenged after that. C Waymon Rowe had 8 pts to go with 11 rebs. G Darron Lewis had a big game off the bench with 15 pts, 6 rebs and 7 asts and F Malcom Overton chipped in with 12 pts and 8 rebs.
The Lancers were without regulars PF Chuck Jones and C Keith Duncan, who were sitting out 1-game suspensions. PG Horace Wormley tossed in 35 pts (including 6 threes) to take up the scoring slack, but nobody could control White on the boards. SG Chanson Smyth also nailed 6 threes and finished with 19 pts.
