Oxnard 83, Santa Monica 58

Oxnard got another big game from PF Jeremiah Massey plus a big performance from C Matt Dickenson to streak past the Corsairs at Santa Monica. Massey had 23 pts (19 in the 2nd half) and 20 rebs for the Condors. Dickenson led all scorers with 26 pts and added 10 rebs and 6 asts. PG Danny Guzman had a very strong game as well, dishing out 6 asts, grabbing 5 rebs, knocking down 3 three-pointers and generally giving SMC PG Richard Bluette a difficult night. SF William Brown scored 14.

The Condors jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first few minutes and never surrendered the lead. Santa Monica drew to within 6 at 21-15 and trailed by just 4 with less than 2 minutes to go before halftime, but Oxnard scored the next 13 pts to pull away. That was part of a 20-3 run covering the end of the 1st half and the beginning of the 2nd half, which made it 52-31 Oxnard. They never led by less than 15 the rest of the way.

PF Ronald Eskridge had a strong game for the Corsairs, finishing with 19 pts (on 7 of 11) and adding 9 rebs, both team bests. But PG Bluette had a nightmare of a game, finishing 0 for 12 from the field and just 2 of 6 from the line. He also committed a game-high 5 turnovers, though he did have game-highs with 4 steals and 10 asts. Overall SMC shot 36% from the floor and grabbed 19 fewer rebounds than did Oxnard, ensuring a one-sided loss.
