Updated Records: AVC finishes 22-12. GC moves to 19-13 and will meet the winner of the LA City/Santa Ana game.
Key Play: Just 2:46 into the game, AVC had an inbounds play in which Rivera got the ball to Melvin, who swished a three. But Melvin appeared to land on Clark's foot, and in any case suffered a significant ankle injury. He did not return the rest of the first half, and was limping noticeably when he tried to return to start the 2nd half. When Melvin was injured, his three made it 9-2 AVC. About 6 minutes later, it was 18-11 Grossmont. AVC came out in a zone defense with Melvin at Center to start the 2nd half, but Grossmont scored 12 of the first 14 pts of the half to end any remaining suspense. He was largely ineffective (0/4 fgs, 0 rebs, 0 everything else) in limited minutes in the 2nd half.
