Mt. San Antonio 84, Citrus 55

PF Jeff Fahnbullah scored 29 pts and grabbed 13 rebs to lead #3 Mt. San Antonio (5-0) to an unexpectedly easy win over Citrus (4-5) in the day's first game.

Citrus jumped out to a 15-10 lead in the first few minutes behind 7 pts by PF Mark Kelley and 4 by Ctr Chris Minardo. But Mt. SAC soon tied the game at 15 and took the lead on a three by SG Antonio Sykes, and the Mounties led the rest of way. By halftime Mt. SAC's lead was 10, and when Citrus missed 9 of its first 10 shots of the second half, Mt. SAC pulled away.

In addition to the points and rebounds, Fahnbullah added 4 blocked shots and 4 steals. Sykes had a huge game with 21 pts, 6 rebs and 7 asts. Ctr Seymor Walker had 11 pts and 7 boards despite missing most of the second half with foul trouble. And PG Mark Johnson added 6 pts and 6 asts.

For Citrus, Kelley led the way with 20 pts, 18 of which came in the first half. But no other Owls reached double figures in scoring, and Citrus shot just 29.5% from the floor. Minardo had 7 pts and a team-best 8 rebs.
