SF Bennie Rhodes had 23 pts and three other plalyers scored in double figures for #7 San Francisco (13-4) in a 76-63 win over Napa Valley (8-6) in the first round of the 42nd Annual Delta Holiday Tournament Friday night in Stockton.
This one was close early, with the score tied at 26 when Rhodes scored on a 3-pt play to give the Rams a 29-26 lead. San Francisco led the rest of the way, pushing the margin to 8 at 38-30 late in the half before settling for a 38-31 lead at the break.
CCSF began the second half with baskets from Ctr Da'Ron Sims and PG Andrew Davenport to push the margin to double figures at 42-31, and was in control the rest of the way. Napa got within 9 points at 48-39 but then SG Calvin Douglas hit a fallaway jumper for CCSF, spurring a 10-0 run that pushed the lead to 19. PF Christopher White threw down an alley-oop dunk on a pass from Davenport to finish the run, all but clinching the win for CCSF with 12:58 left.
Douglas had 11 pts and 4 asts for CCSF. Davenport had 10 pts, 4 asts and 3 steals. Sims had 10 pts and 5 rebs.
For Napa Valley, SG Aaron Trigg and Ctr Tyler Dixon each had 18 pts. Trigg also had 6 rebs, 3 asts and 2 steals; Dixon also had a game-high 7 rebs despite missing much of the second half with foul trouble.
