SG Quinston Reggins came off the bench to score 30 pts, including 6 threes, propelling host San Jose (9-6) to an 85-56 win over Cosumnes River (8-9) in a semifinal game of the SJCC Holiday Tournament at Evergreen Valley College Friday evening.
Reggins scored 23 points in the second half, including five of his threes, as SJCC scored 59 points after halftime and ran away for the win.
Neither team shot well in the first half, with SJCC (29%) and CRC (19%) combining to go 16 of 65 from the floor. The Jaguars led by 10 at the break, 29-19, but Cosumnes River got three 3-pointers from SG Alonzo Earle to pull within 4 points at 34-30 early in the second half.
But a pair of threes from Reggins pushed the SJCC lead back to 10 points, and the Jaguars just pulled away from there as Cosumnes River continued to struggle putting the ball in the basket.
For San Jose, SG Javin Charlot had 14 pts including 3 threes and a game-high 6 asts. SF B.J. Lassiter added 12 pts, 8 rebs and 3 steals.
For Cosumnes River, Earle had a team-high 15 pts, all on threes. Ctr Anthony Isom had 11 pts and 8 rebs, and PG Phillip Thomas had 10 pts and 5 asts. But the Hawks shot just 25% from the floor for the game, including a nightmarish 0-for-17 from PF Chris Wilson, who finished with 4 pts, 6 rebs, 4 asts and 3 steals.
