SF Michael Bolden scored 27 pts, including 3 three-pointers, and added 8 rebs, 4 asts and 2 blocked shots to lead Irvine Valley to a 74-66 win over host LA Valley Friday evening at the Monarch Sports Pavilion in Valley Glen.

Irvine Valley (8-6) led wire-to-wire, opening a 17-point lead early in the second half. LA Valley (3-9) narrowed the gap to just five points with about six minutes left, and stayed close down the stretch, but never got any closer.

IVC started the game with a 2-0 lead after 2 free throws by PF Zach Mills thanks to an administrative technical foul against LA Valley before the start. LA Valley tied the game, 6-6, 3:55 into the game, but never actually took the lead.

The Lasers took a 7-point lead after a 3-pointer by Bolden that made it 19-12, and also led, 24-17, after a 3-pointer by SG Shaquille Hunter. After Hunter's trey, PG J.R. Parker stole the ensuing inbounds pass and passed to Bolden for a short jumper to make it 26-17.

Bolden made a three to push IVC's lead to double digits at 29-17. LA Valley rallied to cut the margin to nine points at 33-24 after a free throw by PF Alex Smith, but Irvine Valley pushed its lead to 14 points on another Hunter 3-pointer and led, 40-26, at the half.

In the second half, Hunter hit a baseline jumper to push IVC's lead to 42-26 in the opening seconds, and Mills hit a 3-pointer to make it 47-30, giving the Lasers what would be their largest lead of the game.

Spencer made two free throws with 1:52 left to restore the ten-point lead again for the Lasers, making it 69-59, with the Monarchs' Bailey fouling out on that play.
