Chaffey 95, Pasadena 66

#14 Chaffey led wire-to-wire, hitting 15 threes, in a 95-66 rout of Pasadena Wednesday afternoon in a first round game of the Roadrunner Round-Up at Rio Hondo College in Whittier.

The Panthers (4-3) got a 3-pointer from SG Anthony Cammon in the opening seconds, setting the tone for the game. SF Matt Wallace hit his first three shots of the game, including a three, pushing the lead to 10-4. Then SF Dario Jokic hit three consecutive threes to push the margin to 19-7.

But that was just the beginning. Another three by Cammon made it 22-7. Then another three by Wallace made it 25-9. Even when Chaffey finally missed a 3-point shot, Ctr Mo Hughley rebounded a Wallace miss and fed Cammon for a lay-up to make it 27-9.

And the Panthers got a conventional 3-point play from PF Jamal Veal to make it 32-11. Chaffey even got a break when a Pasadena player, trying to get a rebound, tipped the ball into his own basket to make it 41-13. Jokic, who got credit for that field goal, then hit his 5th three of the day to make it 44-15.

A steal & basket by Cammon made it a 30-point game at 46-15 with 5:15 left in the first half. At halftime, Chaffey led by 27 at 53-26. Another three by Cammon early in the second half pushed the lead back to 30 at 58-28.

For Chaffey, Cammon led all scorers with 23 pts, including 3 threes, and added 4 asts and 4 steals. Jokic had 22 pts, including 6 threes, and a team-high 9 rebs. Wallace had 20 pts, including 4 threes.
