SG Wilbur Williams scored 14 pts and PF Tyrone Riley had 12 pts and 10 rebs to lead a balanced LA City attack to an impressive 89-59 win over host Pasadena (13-17) Wednesday night.
Williams and Riley each scored 8 pts in the first half as LACC built a 44-24 lead at the break. Pasadena never got closer than 18 in the second half. Earlier this season, LA City beat Pasadena by just 8 (89-81), but this one wasn't nearly that close.
After Williams gave LA City an early 2-0 lead to start the game, PCC's PG Horace Wormely nailed a jumper to tie the score at 2. But LA City scored the next 9 pts, and were never really challenged after that.
The Cubs (29-2) shot a remarkable 67% from the field, and also outrounded Pasadena 43-24. Meanwhile, LACC held the Lancers to 33% shooting though the Lancers committed just 6 turnovers.
Other LACC standouts included PG Dwaun Rice (9 pts, 6 asts, 5 rebs), Ctr Julian Sensley (12 pts, 6 rebs, 3 asts), SF Romel Beck (11 pts) and SG Lanere Anderson (8 pts on 3/3 shooting).
Pasadena was led by SG Darelle Rowe, who had 15 pts (including 3 threes). Wormely had 11 pts and a game-high 8 asts. Ctr Mark Dawson led Pasadena with 5 rebs, less than half his season average, and scored 7 pts. SF Thomas Scott had 11 pts in a reserve role.
