Ctr Marcus Caesar scored 25 pts, SG Jamil Muchel dished out 14 assists and their teammates combined for 14 threes as #12 Chabot (17-10, 8-2) put on a remarkable shooting display en route to a 92-64 win over host Ohlone (13-13, 5-5) that gave the Gladiators a share of the Coast Conference North Division title.
Chabot host 55% for the game, including a sizzling 63% in the first half in which they hit 9 threes and committed just 4 turnovers. It was no surprise that after a half like that, Chabot led by 23 at intermission. Ohlone cut the margin to 19 midway through the second half only to see Chabot go on a quick 8-2 run to push the lead back to 25. After that, it was just a matter of seeing how many points the Gladiators would score.
In addition to his game-high 25 pts, Caesar also pulled down a game-high 9 rebs. And Muchell had a remarkable game with 7 pts, 7 rebs and 14 asts. SG Raymond Chavis had 15 pts, all on threes and all in the first half. SF Damien Matheiu had 11 pts and 6 boards while SF Gurvis Phillips also had 11 pts; each of them made 3 threes. And backup Ctr Sam Hodge had a strong game as well with 7 pts, 6 rebs and 3 asts plus...of course, a three-pointer.
Ohlone lost despite a very strong game from SF Chris Burnett, who finished with 21 pts (6 threes), 7 rebs, 7 asts, 2 blocks and 3 steals. PG Ryan Cooper had 13 pts and 6 asts while PF Andy Bocian had 12 pts and 6 rebs.
