LA Pierce 89, #15 Allan Hancock 66 PF Kevin Johnson scored 19 pts and grabbed 11 rebs and Fwd Hanry "Tank" Aubry came off the bench to score 22 pts as LA Pierce (7-8) got an easy home win over #15 Allan Hancock (10-9). Pierce jumped out to a 21-10 lead in the first 10 minutes on the strength of 4 threes - 2 each by SG Sylvester Allison and SF Gabe Bernard - and cruised from there. A pair of threes from Aubry extended the lead to 35-20 later in the half, and a FG by Johnson made it 44-28 at the half. To begin the second half, Allison knocked down a three to extend the Pierce lead to 47-28. After AHC got a bucket from PG Jose Frias and a three from SG Kevin Rodgers to cut the margin to 47-33, Pierce responded on a pair of baskets by Bernard, a steal & dunk by Johnson and a three from Bernard. That put the Brahmas ahead by 23 at 56-33, and from there, the rout was on. Pierce shot 50% from the floor on the night, and Bernard was a big part of that as he made 7 of 9 shots, including 3 threes, for 17 pts. Johnson went 9 of 12 and claimed game honors with his 11 rebs. Aubry came on to score 22 pts, grab 5 rebs and make a spectacular behind-the-head-no-look pass for a David Retzlaff dunk in the first half. Allison added 14 pts including 3 threes. Hancock was led by Rodgers' 17 pts, but no other Bulldog managed double figures. PF Donnie Jones had 8 pts and a team-best 8 rebs, while Ctr Aaron Severson had 8 pts and 3 blocks. But AHC shot just 34% from the floor and was outrebounded 50-34, and was never really in the game.
