Nia Lateju scored 19 pts and Cassidy Carrillo came off the bench for 12 as Cerritos ran its record to 5-1 in SCC play with a 53-41 win over LA Trade Tech Friday night in Norwalk.
Cerritos (12-8, 5-1) used an 8-0 run to take a 25-18 lead late in the first half, and a 20-3 run to pull away in the second half, building a 50-32 lead with just under six minutes left.
Trade Tech (7-9, 2-3) took an 18-17 lead early and trailed by just five points at 30-25 at halftime, but couldn't keep up in the second half in the absence of leading scorer Tasheba Henery, who missed the game due to injury.
Lateju finished with 19 pts and 9 rebs, and Connolly had 12 pts and 5 rebs. Alii Salone had 5 pts, 9 rebs and 2 blocked shots and Selena Romero had 4 pts, 5 rebs and 6 blocked shots. Cerritos' starting backcourt of 5-1 Priscilla Valdovinos and 5-1 Tache' King was tiny but effective, combining for 6 points, 8 assists and 6 steals.
For LA Trade Tech, Shakelai Ross had a team-high 10 pts. Adriana Anderson had 6 pts, 7 rebs and 3 asts, and Patrice Darden had 6 pts and 4 rebs. Kemberlyn Virgen had 4 pts, 7 rebs, 2 blocks and 2 steals.
