Canyons (12-10, 4-3 in WSC-S) ended a 3-game losing streak and breezed to an easy 92-62 win over West LA (10-10, 3-4).
SG Alli Weier led the Cougars with 22 pts while SF Janette Galindo added 19. Ctr Jessi Loring had her usual strong overall game with 18 pts, 15 rebs and 4 steals. PG Erica Doyle added 12 pts and dished out 11 asts.
West LA led early 6-2 but after that it was all COC. The Cougars pushed their lead to 15 at 41-26 on a three by Weier and a basket by Loring on a feed from Doyle. West LA cut into the lead a bit on a three by SF Amber Fouse just before the halftime horn and 2 FTs by Fouse at the beginning of the second half, but COC quickly pushed out to a 20-point lead at 57-37 and was never threatened.
Fouse led all scorers with 23 pts. Ctr Shannon Clay had a superb game for West LA with 22 pts, 15 rebs and 4 steals. But no other scorers reached double digits for the Oilers, who shot 36% from the floor and committed 26 turnovers. COC shot 58% from the floor, which included a lot of layups, and had only 20 turnovers despite pushing the pace for most of the game.
