PF Demetrius Thomas scored 27 pts and PG Leron Fisher had a double-double with 11 pts and 11 asts to lead #15 (South) Allan Hancock to a 12-point win over Sierra in the consolation final of the 8th Annual Fresno City College tournament Sunday afternoon.
AHC (4-2) led virtually all the way, taking an early 9-2 advantage and, after Sierra (3-3) pulled within two points at 17-15, the Bulldogs went on a 17-0 run to take control of the game.
Thomas added a 3-pointer in the final seconds of the first half to give Allan Hancock a 20-point lead at 46-26 at the half. Fisher hit a short jumper in the opening seconds of the second half to push the margin to 22 points at 48-26.
Sierra rallied in the second half, cutting the deficit to six points after a 3-pointer by PG Drew Brandon ,made it 64-58 with 8:05 left. But that was as close as the Wolverines would get.
SG Junior Anderson and Thomas hit consecutive 3-pointers to push the lead back to 13 points at 71-58 with about six minutes left. Another three by Anderson made it 76-61 about a minute later. SF Mike Fraylon scored off a pass from Fisher with 2:25 left to make it 81-64; the assist was Fishers 10th of the game.
For Allan Hancock, Thomas had the game-high 27 pts, including 4 threes, and added 5 rebs, 4 asts and 2 steals. Fraylon had 20 pts including 5 threes, plus 6 rebs, 3 asts and 2 steals. Fisher, fittingly enough a left-handed point guard who wears uniform #2, had the 11 pts plus game-highs of 11 asts and 4 steals. SG Khufu Najee, who played at Diablo Valley in 2010-11 before redshirting at San Jose State last year, added 11 pts, 5 rebs and 4 asts.
For Sierra, PF Gabe Finley came off the bench to score a team-high 19 pts while also grabbing 8 rebs. PF Jordan Ngatai had a double-double with 15 pts and a game-high 11 rebs. Brandon had 14 pts and added 7 rebs, 7 asts and 3 steals in a strong all-around effort. SG Pekos Trunyan came off the bench and scored 11 pts, including 3 threes, and had 2 asts
