Skyline opened the 2007-08 season in impressive style, leading wire to wire and posting a 79-62 win over host College of Marin Wednesday evening in Kentfield.
PG Bryan Ngo played particularly well, scoring 28 pts (including 3 threes) and adding 6 rebs and 4 asts while committing just one turnover in the win.
Skyline began the game on a 9-0 run and led from start to finish. The Trojans shot 50% from the floor in the first half while holding the Mariners to 25% shooting and forcing 16 turnovers to build the 45-18 lead at the break. Marin closed the gap to 15 points late in the second half but never got any closer.
SF Darren Morrison also had a strong all-around game for the Trojans with 12 pts, 6 rebs, 8 asts and 3 steals. SG Shawn Echols had 11 pts, and Ctr Mario Flaherty had 10 pts and 6 rebs before fouling out with 8:01 left in the game.
For Marin, Ctr Weldon Miller led the way with 22 pts, 20 of which came in the second half. SG Peter Best had 20 pts, including 5 threes. PF Brandon Miller came off the bench and provided inside muscle, scoring 5 pts and grabbing a game-high 15 rebs.
