The All-State Teams and Top 100 Players of 2002-03

Here are my choices for the 2002-03 All-State Teams, and also my list of the other top 100 JC players in California that I've seen play this year. This is of course my subjective opinion, and while I'm a fan rather than a coach, mine may be the most informed opinion around since I doubt anyone else has seen as many teams play this year as I have.

The All-State picks are by position and region, and I've also included a "6th man" on each a team. That gives a total of 12, which is not coincidentally a standard NBA roster size.

All-State Selections:
North:
PG - Franco Harris, Diablo Valley - Boise State
SG - *Anthony Shavies, Chabot - Southwest Missouri State
SF - Tyrone Jackson, Fresno (f) - Arizona State
PF - Robert Franklin, Lassen (f)
C - Chris Adams, San Francisco - Fresno State
6th - *Marcus Price, Redwoods - Notre Dame de Namur

South:
PG - William Funn, San Bernardino Valley - Portand State
SG - *Sidney Melvin, Antelope Valley - Northeastern State (OK)
SF - *Marques Crane, Saddleback - Utah State
PF - Tyrone Riley, LA City - San Francisco
C - *Jeremiah Massey, Oxnard - Kansas State
6th - Midwin Francis, LA Valley - Northeastern State (OK)

The Top 100 selections, which do not include the All-State picks, are in alphabetical order (not ranked), listed with (primary) position and school. And I listed them at the position they currently play (most of the time, anyway) rather than where they project to at higher levels. If they've signed to transfer, their destination is indicated in italics.

Also new this year (beside the All-State picks) - I've listed the players also seriously considered for this list in the Honorable Mention section.

The only out-of-state team I've seen this year was Big Bend of Washington. I put the 3 players I would have had on one of these lists under a separate section so as not to take space from California players. I've also noted where they would have been placed on the California list.
