HISTORY

Lakewood High School is located in the southern part of Sumter County.  The new high school was created in 1996 from 3 former high schools: Furman, Hillcrest (Dalzell), and Mayewood.   Soccer was one of the new sports introduced into the program at that time.

Since then the program has expanded with a girls' team and junior varsity team.  Lakewood has also been the host of the Gator Classic soccer tournament since 1997.
