Ollie
The
easiest way to learn an ollie is to practice with no speed. Find
a flat space on a street and position your feet on the board as
normal. Push down the kick, (the opposite from the nose of the
board) and do it fast so you can hear a popping sound. Then at
the almost same time, you drag your other foot forward and push
the board forward. Then land. Practice on grass first, then take
it to aslfalt and then ollie with some speed and learn to ollie
over things and ollie gaps. Remember that more speed means
longer ollies.
Nollie
Walk to the nose of the board while riding forward. Now you're
in a nollie position. Pop an ollie with the nose, (nollie) and
don't rotate anything. Just like an ollie but switch fakie.
Manual
Get
some speed going first of all. Then push back slightly on the
tail. It helps to keep your knees bent for balance. Make sure
that the tail doesn't touch the ground.
180
No-Comply
You must practice
this one moving. as you take your front foot off the board, snap
your tail and push it 180 degrees in towards you. in mid turn,
you should jump so the board is under you and land very happily.
the secret is to make sure you get enough of a lift to turn the
board around without smacking yourself where it really smarts!
with good timing it becomes a very abstract, simple, and fun
trick. a variation of this is to land on your back wheels and
180 again.
50/50
Approach
the curb at a 45 degree angle(or slighter). Then ollie and put
your trucks on the curb and ride it out, or ollie off the curb.
If your riding parallel to the curb ollie and push your trucks
down and on to the edge of the curb.
180
To
180, you need to know how to popshuvit and ollie. Have
your feet in ollie position, then ollie and twist your body 180.
Keep the deck with your feet. As you twist your body, your
feet and deck should also twist.
Powerslide
You need to do a
powerslide on slick concrete. get a little speed
while your moving place your backfoot right behind the bolts..
and your front foot right in front of the bolts.
then ease the pressure on feet anddo a 180 with your wheels on
the grond.
you should hear a skreech come from each wheel at the same time.
Kickflip
and heelflip
you go big,
Do an ollie and at the same time you kick the board's side/edge.
The board starts spinning and you will notice that you have to
land it in the air if you want it to stop spinning, (that is by
the way called a catch). The hard part of the kickflip is the
landing. Try to kickflip it high in the air an then sort of land
it with: first the front foot and then do the kickflip again and
land it with your back foot. Then you land it with both feet.
The Heelflip is the same, but kick the board forward, instead of
backward. It's harder to do a heelflip because the landing
troubles your heels. You'll understand when you try it.
Kickflip
indy
To
do a kickflip indy you do an ollie and at the highest point of
your ollie
do a kickflip, then sling your front arm down and grab the board
and put it back under you. then ride off smoothly.
Shove-it
A shove-it is a rotating of the board without
turning your body. Try standing in a kickflip-position and then
ollie. When you do the ollie you must drag the kick of the board
invert to make the board turn. Try it on grass first and then on
asfalt and then with speed. When you have learned it you can do
shove-it 50-50's and other cool tricks.
Pop
Shove-it
Start
to ollie. When your just coming of of the ground, swing your two
legs in opposite directions(ie. back leg swing back and font leg
swing forward) The board should spin around 180 degrees and you
should catch it with your feet .
Backside
No-comply
Pick
up a fair amount of speed. Then take your front foot off the
board, and with your back foot, pop the board 180 backside (away
from you). At the same time you should be jumping up preparing
to land on the board after it 180's. Catch the board with your
feet. Land, Roll Away.
Varial Flip
To
do a varial flip, its like a popshuvit kickflip. So you
need to know how to popshuvit and kickflip before you try this
move. The footing is close to the kickflip except the back foot
on the tail should be a little slanted. Pop the tail down
and do a kickflip. Once you pop the deck, use your back
foot to manuever it 180 degrees and then land it. This is
a tough trick to learn but its just as easy to land as a
kickflip.
Nose plant
Find a high curb
or something, roll towards it at a slow to medium speed, ollie up
and plant your nose on the object, stay there for a second then
drop down and roll off fakie. Its a pretty lame trick but you
can make it look good if you trow in a kick- flip then plant the
nose. or you could roll towards it fakie and plant the nose off
a half-cab ,theres a variety of things you could throw in. the
only hard part about this is ollieing at just the right time to
land on the side of the object,on your nose.
Frontside noseslide and
backside noseslide
Noselides
are difficult in the beginning. You must first learn to ollie up
on a ledge/curb. Approach the ledge and ollie and land it with
your nose only. Stand still in a switch-drop position and then
drop off it. Learn this with speed and then learn it by
approaching the ledge/curb parallell. You will see that you will
slide a little bit. The frontside noseslide is harder to perform
than the backside. Approach the curb with your stumach pointing
towards the curb and ollie 90 degrees and slide and then ride
away fakie or shove-it off or whatever. Do the same with the
backside, but ride towards the curb with your butt pointing
towards it.
The front
and backside 50-50 grind and 5-0 grind
The
50-50, You simply approach the curb or handrail or whatever
you're going to grind and do an ollie and land with your trucks
on the grindable area on the ledge. With speed you'll grind a
bit and then ollie off it/shove-it off, kickflip off, 180 off,
etc, etc...
The 5-0 grind is harder and you must girnd on your back-truck to
have the permission to say you are doing a 5-0 grind!!! Learn
how to do the manual first. (You wheelie on your backwheels
without touching the kick in the ground!). The hardest part is
to come off the curb. Try to ollie when doing the manual, (a.k.a:
wheelie), then you'll see that it's easier to ollie off the
curb.
The diffrence between the backside and frontside 50-50 and the
5-0 grinds is when you approach the curb. When your butt points
at the curb you know you are going to do a backside grind and if
your stumach is pointing towards the curb, you will do a
frontside grind. Get it?!
Frontside
and backside tailslide
The best way to learn tailslide is to learn the frontside first.
Approach the curb frontside and ollie 90 degrees and land with
your tail on the ledge. Try to hold your balance in the
dropping-position and slide as far as possible, then drop off
the curb fakie or something else that's cool.
When you do the backside tailslide you must do a backside 90
degree ollie and land with your tail on the curb without seeing
the curb, 'cause your backside points towards the curb. It's
very hard, but try backside tailslide on low curbs first, so low
that you can roll over them with your wheels, it helps!
Nose Grind
Come
up to the rail or curb come straight at it if possible if not
come at it at a 30 degree angle ollie land with only your front
trucks on but your back trucks paralell with the rail or curb
pop off or turn off when done grinding
If you want to show off a little bit more after nose grinding it
a bit let your back truck fall on it to a 50/50 and then just
grind in a 5-0 (Back truck only) then turn to a tail slide and
off!
360heelflip
first you put
your back foot on the oposite side as your other foot. then move
your front foot back to the middle of your board in the heel
flip position. now pop that sucker as hard as you can and kick
out as hard as you can. and jump as far back as possible.then
ride away smooth.
360 flip
The
360 degree kickflip is one of the hardest flat-tricks of all.
Position your feet in a kickflip-angel and do an ollie while
flipping the board with your front foot. Then push the board
with your back foot and make the board spin invert. Then let
your board spin 360 degrees while it's doing a kickflip. Try to
land it by jumping very high with your body and tweak your
frontleg so you can catch it in the air and stop it from
over-rotating.
Backside
and fromtside Smith-grind
The
smith-grind is a grind where your front-trucks points down
towards the ground and your back-trucks grinds the
coping/curb/ledge.
Learn it with low speed first; approach a low curb and ollie,
land with your back-trucks on the ledge and then point the
front-trucks down. Your board will now be in a boardslide/grind-position.
Try it with alot of speed and you will notice that you will
grind and boardslide at the same time! You can do it both back-
and frontside. The frontside is the easiest and you approach the
obstacle with your stumach pointing the curb/bar/ledge/coping.
When you do the backside you must approach the obstacle with
your butt pointing at it. It's very difficult and you will not
be able to see behind your back when you land. So it's all about
"feeling," (As in Star Wars!!!) the curb or whatever
it is you're grinding.
Frontside
and backside feeble-grind
To
learn the backside feeble-grind easy, you must know how to do
the backside 50-50. Approach the bar, (it's easiest to do it on
a bar), with your butt pointing against it. Ollie and land with
your back-trucks on the bar and your front-trucks pointing down
on the left side of the bar, (if regular is your ride). You will
now grind and boardslide at the same time. It's like the
smith-grind but reversed, almost...
The frontside feeble-grind is the same the backside, but you
approach the bar frontside and ollie and land with your
back-trucks on the bar and your front-trucks pointing down to
the ground on the right side of the bar. Grind and boardslide at
the same time.
Front and
backside Nosegrind
Learn
front-manuals first, (wheelies) and then learn 50-50's. Approach
the curb and ollie and land with your front-trucks on the grind
and then do the front-wheelie, while you're grinding! Pop off
the curb nollie or if you have much speed, just keep on grinding
until you auto-drop-off!
The backside nosegrind is the same, but you do it backside!!!
Frontside
and backside lipslide
The
frontside Lipslide is way more easier than the backside. That
you will notice when trying. But the fs lipslide isn't easy just
because of that. Practice it on a low rail. You need alot of
speed to clear the rail and it helps alot if you can do the
boardslide easy. Ollie 90 degrees towards and above the rail and
land boardslide. Slide it and pop off fakie or regular. It helps
if you ollie very high up on the rail, you get more control,
that way.
The backside lipslide is hard to do. You approach the rail with
your butt against it and ollie backside 90 degrees up on it.
Boardslide and pop off fakie or regular. If you know how to do
the backside tailslide you will conquer this trick too, but if
you don't: it's going to be some nasy slams...
Nollie
Noseslide
Approach
the ledge with medium speed and pop the nose to nollie. Rotate
your board 90 degrees and land on the nose and slide. Pop off
fakie, shove-it or something else. You can do this by
approaching with your back against the ledge, (backside) or your
stumach facing the ledge, (frontside). To leran this trick
easier you can practice nollie to nosestall on the ledge without
sliding. This helps you to later on pop your nollie better up on
the ledge. And as always, more speed means longer slides.
Hardflip
Learn
kickflips and f.s. pop Shove-its first becuase this is a
combination of those two tricks. It helps if you do this on
grass first or just non-motion on flat ground. Place your feet
in a kickflip position and pop the tail to leave the ground, now
comes the hard part: Kickflip like a frontside flip but don't
let your body turn with the board. It' like a f.s. shove-it
flip. The board does a varial with flip and you stay in the same
angle. Land. |
