Fijalkowski, Brondello walk off with lucrative award
Bud Light Shooting Champs


The Women's National Basketball Association has announced that international stars Isabelle Fijalkowski of the Cleveland Rockers and stars Sandy Brondello of the Detroit Shock are the 1998 Bud Light Shooting Champions.

   The program, in its second season, honors the league's best overall shooters based on field goal percentage and free throw percentage. Bud Light will give $12,500 to each winner -- $2,500 of which will go to a charity of the player's choice.
   Fijalkowski led the field goal shooting category for the final six weeks of the season and finished at .547 on 146 of 267 shooting. The French native, competing in her second WNBA season, finished second in this category last season. stars
Razija Mujanovic of the Detroit Shock was close behind with .520, followed by stars Michelle Griffiths (Brogan) of the Phoenix Mercury (.505), stars Janice Braxton of the Cleveland Rockers (.495) and stars Tracy Reid of the Charlotte Sting (.487).
   Brondello excelled at the free throw line and finished the season with an impressive .923 percentage (96 of 104). The veteran Australian native, playing in her first season with the WNBA, was a valuable addition to the Shock. After holding the lead in the beginning of the season, stars
Eva Nemcova of the Cleveland Rockers finished second with an .893 percentage, followed by stars Bridget Pettis of the Phoenix Mercury (.865) and stars Cynthia Cooper (.854) and stars Tina Thompson (.851) of the Houston Comets.
   The Bud Light Shooting Champions program is part of Bud Light's $100,000 commitment to WNBA players. In addition to the $25,000 awarded to the Bud Light Shooting Champions, Bud Light will also award cash prizes to players on the All-WNBA First and Second Teams. Each first team player will receive $10,000 and each second team player will receive $5,000.
