Hey
Mercury fans! Although I
missed the 1999 season I
followed the team very
closely. I'm eager to be
back next season and am
looking forward to the
Mercury not only going
back to the playoffs but
winning a championship
title.
I've
got to tell you, that
Mercury fans are by far
the best fans in the
world. I appreciate all
your support and letters
during my pregnancy. My
husband, Steve, and I
surely have our hands
full with our new son,
Bailey Scott. Being a
mother is so much fun!
Thanks
for the support and
"GO MERCURY!"
Congratluations
on the new addition to
your family. How does it
feel to be a Mom? I think
I can speak for the fans
by saying we missed you
so much this last season.
It was very thoughtful of
you to come to some of
the games. I was at two
fo the ones you attended.
The L.A. Game on July
17th and Houston on the
19th. Your presence was
definintly felt. The
Mercury played their best
basketball of the season.
It was tough to watch
them struggle throught
the first half of the
season after being so
successful the previous
season. Do you plan on
coming back next year? I
really hope so. Next
season will be great,
especialy with you back.
I love my Mercury and
will never give up on
them. So until next year,
keep up the good work on
being a mom. Go Mercury!
Hannah Dunigan
Lake Montezuma, Ariz.
Michelle
Griffiths: Hannah,
Being a Mum! Well what
can I say? I really can't
think of life without my
wonderful Bailey! It
really is an overwhelming
feeling. I just don't
stop hugging him. I've
now started back training
and loving it. I'm
looking forward to
getting back into shape
and coming back to the
WNBA in 2000. Keep up
your support for the
Mercury and I'm sure 2000
will be a big one.
Do you
think it will be hard to
balence being a mother
and playing pro ball?
Erin Lehtinen
Alexandria, Va.
Griffiths:
Erin, I think it would be
hard to balance being a
mum with anything, as
many people have already
said,"Being a Mum is
a full time job",
but I'm sure I'll be
fine. Millions of women
have done it before me
and millions will follow
behind me. I have the
support of my husband,
family and friends, I'm
never going to be short
of a babysitter, everyone
is trying to fit into my
suit case to be my nanny.
First
of all, I would like to
congratulate you on your
new addition to the
family. You must be
overwhelmed with joy, not
to mention tired, these
days. I hear that the
players on the Australian
National Team will not be
returning for the WNBA
season next year so that
they can stay together
until the Olympics. Do
you know anything about
this? Will YOU be
returning next year? GO
MERCURY!
Dee Leonard
Scottsdale, Ariz.
Griffiths:
Dee, I do know that some
of the Ozzies are
thinking of staying home
because of the Olympics
and that's up to them,
but it's something that
I'm not wanting to do. I
want to get back to my
best after having so much
time off, so I want to be
back in the WNBA and stay
there as long as I can.
What's
up? I'm thirteen and my
favorite sport is
basketball. I'm going to
try out for the team in
high school, but my mom
said I have to play club
to get on the team. the
only thing is, I am
really busy with school,
and other basketball
leagues (like YMCA and
Boys & Girls Club,
and school)...I don't
think I'll have enought
time for everything, do
you think it's really
neccesary to play club
basketball? Have a great
next season!
Ashley
Chandler, Ariz.
Griffiths:
Ashley, In Australia we
have a different system
so I'm a little unsure
what to say, but I think
you should play where you
feel the most happy. I
know that for me I play
better where I'm happy.
Just another thing,
remember if you want to
be the best you have to
play and train against
the best.
Hi
How's Motherhood? I was
wondering if your going
to play in the WNBL
sometime this season and
if so will it be for a
Melbourne based team?
Erin
Melbourne, Australia
Griffiths:
Erin from Australia!
Being a mum is great, but
I really don't feel like
one yet. All I know is, I
can't think of life
without him. Yes, I want
to play in the WNBL this
season but I'm not sure
with whom at the moment.
I would like to get half
a season in and then head
off to the WNBA before
the Olympics.
First
of all I just want to
congratulate you on your
new son! Have you already
started to get back into
shape, if not how hard do
you think it will be?
Good luck and I look
forward to seeing you
next season!
Lisa
Phoenix, Ariz.
Griffiths:
I have started to get
back into training and
things are going fine. I
did think it was going to
be harder than it is.
Don't get me wrong, I'm
feeling sore and need a
hot bath everynight but I
want to get back to
basketball and I love the
thought of Bailey
watching his mum playing.
Hi!
Congratulations on your
new baby boy! I've been
waiting so long to see
you play again. Since the
day I found out about you
being pregnant and
missing the whole WNBA
season, I couldn't wait
to see you play again!
You are by far, my
favorite player on the
Mercury and I wish you
the best. How do you
think you will fit in
with the new Mercury? Do
you think the Mercury has
changed a lot, or does it
seem to be a different
team with the same style
of play? Well, best of
luck in the 2000 WNBA
season.
Alisha Moreno
Mesa, Ariz.
Griffiths:
Alisha, I think the
Mercury this year was a
different team with a
similar type of game.
Things took a while to
gel, but I'm sure 2000
will be a good one. I
don't think I'll have a
problem with fitting in
because the game the
Mercury play I love -- a
running game with smarts.
