Griffiths To Become A Tiger

Despite all indications that Michelle Griffiths was going to sign with the Bulleen Melbourne Boomers, the Opals stalwart has opted to sign with the Melbourne Tigers. Griffiths had been training with the Boomers and personal trainer Andrew Tranquilli, husband of the Bulleen player Allison, causing her decision to agree to terms with the Tigers to come as a shock to many associated with the club.

The Tigers have reportedly offered Griffiths $10,000 for the remainder of the 1999/00 season, with an option for a $30,000 contract for season 2000/01. Bulleen could only offer half the money the Tigers had and could not commit to a deal beyond the remainder of this season.

Griffiths' agent Hugh Sandie is currently is negotiating the finer details of the contract. Griffiths' signature on the Tigers contract means that despite a slow start to the season, the team now may have enough fire power to make the play offs and beyond.
