    In high school Adam was 7th in the state of New Jersey for indoor track in the mile. He was 4th in the county for cross country. Adam was a team captain for three years at Lakewood High School. He made all conference for high school. In his senior year he received a state jacket for winning the state competition. His high school personal bests include:

    2001 was Adam's first year in competition for Morehead State. At the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, Adam placed 32nd in his best time of the year 28:22. In 2002 Adam lowered his personal best 8k to 26:31 with is 22nd place at the OVC Championships. In the 2002 outdoor track Adam started his career as a steeplechase runner. At the OVC Championships Adam placed 8th, again running his best time for that event 9:59. In 2003 Adam placed 17th in the 1500m (4:15), and 10th in the 3000m steeplechase (10:34) held at Tennessee State University. His college personal bests include:
