Race 25
Mountain Dew 500
Darlington Raceway
September 2, 2001

This was the crash behind the leaders in the second-to-last lap in Sunday's race.
That smoke coming from the left is most likely from Jeremy Mayfield's car, which was running
in second when it hit the wall.  He's an idiot.

I thought Jeremy Mayfield would pull it out this weekend.  He was battling Gordon and Ward Burton for the lead when he took himself into the wall with two laps to go.  Two stinking laps.  I was listening to it on my way back from New Market, and I had to pull off the road on Route 66 in order to shake my fist and scream, "Curse you Jeremy Mayfield!"

Terry Labonte continues to outperform Todd Bodine.

Mike Gregory struggled this week because he had Steve Park, who hurted himself and couldn't make the race Sunday.  He was also hurt by the fact that he has Kurt Busch.  His week low of 197 dropped him to fourth in the standings, behind Chris Potter.  Chris had a big ol' week, with all three of his drivers finishing in the top 10.
