Well, I guess all of the Pontiac drivers who were complaining about how NASCAR was screwing them up the hootie will now have to sit quietly because Tony Stewart won. Atlanta is one of the series fastest non-restrictor plate races, and by winning Tony showed that perhaps the aerodynamics package for the cars are more equal then the Pontiac drivers were saying. Just another reason for other drivers to hate Tony Stewart, as if one were needed.
For the third straight week, Tristan's team posted the Neck Division's highest point total, a season-high 588. I guess his move to pick up Jimmy Johnson before the first race wasn't as stupid as he looks...I mean as it looked. He's vaulted into second place with his fancy drafting and shrewd addition. Leeto's still in first pace, however, due to his nifty team total of 541 in Atlanta. On the other end of the spectrum, Billy & Sean set the mark for low score of the year and managed to do it with four drivers all qualifying) by posting a 199. For those of you scoring at home (and Tim), that was the result of a 35th, 37th, 39th and 40th place finishes by their drivers. At least they're consistent.
In the Red Division, Brian continues to pace the field, although some clever maneuvering by Mike sets him up with a pretty hoppin' team for the long haul. Mike made a move to pick up Steve Park for Jeff Green one week before Park returns, taking the hit of only having a three man team this weekend in order to snatch up Park before anyone else did. It didn't hurt him much, because the driver he dropped finished 41st (40 points), and his other three drivers all finished in the top 10. So now his team includes the Number 2 and 3 drivers from this year (Newman and Burton), and two top ten drivers from last year (Earnhardt and Park). Not so bad. Stinking bum. Park is supposed to race this coming week in Darlington. I'm hoping he falls in the shower and gets another concussion. No I'm not. That's mean. I'm just hoping that he's really crappy. In other news, Park is replacing my driver, Kenny Wallace, so even though it seems impossible, my team will actually get worse. Did I mention how much Mike stinks?
By the way, they changed the rules for speeding
on pit row because of Sterling Martin's cheating last week. Now you
have to come to a rolling stop in the pits, even if it is discovered that
you sped after you left the pits of your pit official could not be reached
to penalize you. I think the name of the rule is the "Sterling Marlin
is a Big Cheater" rule.
